Muffin tins and tip pinch

When working on developing a fine tip pinch, you have to make it happen by removing the option of a raking grasp.

One way to do this is to put the small items to be picked up into a space that the whole hand can’t get into. Muffin tins are a good start to having just the fingers pick up small objects.  I like the mini muffin tin because the spaces are smaller so just the fingers have to be used.

Place cheerios, m&ms, or other small object (we used Lucky Charms) into a muffin tin for the client to get them out.

Materials:

• Muffin tin or muffin cups
• Small manipulatives – cheerios, m & ms, beads, tiny legos, etc.
